#Members of Injury Reserve relaunch as By Storm

Producer Parker Corey and rapper Nathaniel “Ritchie With a T” Ritchie — two thirds of the hardcore-adjacent hip-hop trio Injury Reserve, along with the late Jordan “Stepa J.” Groggs — have announced that they’ll be stepping away from their old nom de guerre in favor of a new moniker: By Storm. They shared the news on Twitter and Instagram Thursday evening (July 6), breaking down a somewhat convoluted chain of events they’ll set in motion next weekend.
On Saturday, July 15, Corey and Ritchie will premiere videos for two new singles at 2220 Arts + Archives in Los Angeles. The first will be Injury Reserve’s final single, “Bye Storm”; the second, By Storm’s inaugural cut, “Double Trio.” The new music and visuals will be accompanied by a conversation between the duo and author Harmony Holiday as part of her Mythscience conversation series. Injury Reserve have not released new music since their last album, By The Time I Get to Pheonix, dropped in 2021, a year after Groggs’ passing. It was mostly recorded while he was still alive, so next Saturday’s release will be Corey and Ritchie’s first without their third creative partner. (It’s unclear whether “Bye Storm” will feature Groggs, but one can safely assume that By Storm’s work moving forward will not.) The FADER has reached out to the group’s publicist for clarification.
