#Magic: The Gathering Teases Hatsune Miku Collaboration

Hatsune Miku

Virtual pop star Hatsune Miku is everywhere. Once the flagship of the Vocaloid franchise, she’s taken on something of a life of her own — appearing in commercials, anime, and even on late-night talk shows. Now, Wizards of the Coast is teasing her involvement in the 91st Magic: The Gathering expansion. How? Why? We don’t have full details yet, but the announcement art is pretty sick.

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty returns to MtG’s world of Kamigawa, the largely Japanese-inspired setting of the card game’s 33rd, 34th, and 35th expansions. The new expansion is set 1,200 years later, blending ninja and samurai combat with a cyberpunk aesthetic.

Today on the game’s official French Twitter account, a new Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty image was posted, showing Miku against a Kamigawa backdrop and surrounded by MtG cards. The tweet translates to: “We will tell you everything, tomorrow, around 3pm.”

The French tweet was retweeted on the official English Twitter account not long after.

And that’s all we have so far: a very cool piece of art and a promise of a big announcement in less than a day. The Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty expansion itself will arrive on February 18, with card previews currently available in the official site’s card image gallery.
