Madonna is addressing all the criticism she’s been getting lately for her appearance.

The 64-year-old singer took to Twitter on Monday and shared a new message aimed directly at those who have been chattering away online about her look.

Just like Madge does best, the message was blunt. As in, it got everybody’s attention and didn’t delay in getting to the point!

In her Twitter post, the Material Girl singer showed herself sitting back in a chair with both her arms and legs crossed while wearing ripped jeans and a black coat. She was also wearing a “Spiritually Hungry” hat as she looked skeptically at the camera. The pic was full of the zest and fire we’ve come to expect from the superstar’s storied career!!

But it was the actual tweeted message itself that really got our attention. The Michigan-born music maven wrote:

“Look how cute i am now that swelling from surgery has gone down. Lol.”

Whoa!!

So, we have a few questions about this. First off, what swelling? What surgery?! Is Madonna admitting to going under the knife for cosmetic procedures like fans have been wondering about on Twitter for weeks??

She was very purposely vague with this reveal. Plus, the “lol” at the end is just a perfectly cheeky way to wrap the message. It leaves everything in limbo! Is she serious about the surgery?! Or is she just f**king with us?? Leave it to the Like A Virgin singer to keep everybody on the edge of their seats at all times…

Down in the replies, fans delivered their own queries about what this new tweet could possibly mean, too. As you can see (below), followers weren’t shy about delivering their own perspectives on Madonna’s apparent admission:

“Mother. Thanks for always living life on your own terms.”

“Much preferred you natural.”

“I have no idea what these [sic] truly means but I know that I’m muthafuggin here for it!”

“Leave Madonna alone sheesh”

“Trolling or being honest? Doesn’t matter. This is the realest tweet ever. Yes, you do look cute.”

Of course, just two weeks ago, Madonna took to Instagram to slam fan and media criticism of her smoothed-out, sculpted Grammys look. As Perezcious readers will recall, she used a February 7 IG post to call out fans who had been mocking her face in mean social media messages while watching the music awards show.

In a video showing off her favorite moments from the Grammys, Madge posted clips of herself with Kim Petras and Sam Smith. She also beamed over being able to introduce the first-ever trans woman performer at the show! But then, the pop legend slammed fans for ignoring all that and simply criticizing her appearance

In a lengthy rant in that IG post, the Like A Prayer singer wrote:

“Instead of focusing on what I said in my speech which was about giving thanks for the fearlessness of artists like Sam and Kim – Many people chose to only talk about Close-up photos of me Taken with a long lens camera By a press photographer that Would distort anyone’s face!! Once again I am caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny That permeates the world we live in. A world that refuses to celebrate women past the age of 45 And feels the need to punish her If she continues to be strong willed, hard-working and adventurous.”

And she continued at the time:

“I have never apologized for any of the creative choices I have made nor the way that I look or dress and I’m not going to start. I have been degraded by the media since the beginning of my career but I understand that this is all a test and I am happy to do the trailblazing so that all the women behind me can have an easier time in the years to come. In the words of Beyonce, ‘You-won’t break my soul.’ I look forward to many more years of subversive behavior — pushing boundaries-Standing up to the patriarchy — and Most of all enjoying my life. Bow down bitches!”

Now, exactly two weeks later, she appears to be copping to some kind of surgery. That is what many fans had initially suspected amid that Grammys appearance, after all. So what gives? And what was it?!
