#Lycoris Recoil To Get Several Short Movies

Lycoris Recoil will be getting a few short movies depicting the everyday lives of Chisato and Takina.

Originally revealed during the TV anime’s second anniversary stream, which featured voice actors Chika Anzai and Shion Wakayama with director Shingo Adachi, the short movie plan involves six shorts, each around a few minutes long. Various people will be handling the storyboards and episode direction under Adachi’s supervision, and Lycoris Recoil character designer Imigimuru will pen one of the scripts. According to Adachi, the storyboard artists and episode directors for this project are young creatives who’d previously expressed an interest in Lycoris Recoil.

A still from one of the shorts (see the featured image or scroll to the end) has been made available. According to Anzai, the short movies will be released ahead of the new Lycoris Recoil anime project that was announced in February 2023, though exact dates are still unknown.

Lycoris Recoil is an original girls-with-guns action anime that aired from July to September 2022 with 13 episodes, with Crunchyroll and Bilibili streaming overseas. The series takes place in a Japan where the secret organization DA (Direct Attack) utilizes teenage female agents called Lycoris to maintain peace by preemptively stopping crimes with lethal methods. Chisato, the strongest Lycoris, and Takina, a serious-minded Lycoris, work at a DA branch called LycoReco that doubles as a legitimate cafe and provider of various services.

The A-1 Pictures-produced anime was the director and series composer debut of Adachi, who’d done character designs for anime like  WORKING!! and Sword Art Online. Asaura (Shousetsu Knights of Sidonia: Kitto Arifureta Koi author) was the story draft writer, and Yumiko Yamamoto (Sword Art Online Alicization War of Underworld co-character designer) the sub-character designer.

Other main cast members included Ami Koshimizu as Mizuki Nakahara,  Misaki Kuno as Kurumi, and Kousuke Sakaki as Mika.

Aside from the anime, there is a manga adaptation, spin-off manga, spin-off light novels, and a stage play.
