Jordan Jenkins is the longest-tenured player on the Jets, which means he has dealt with plenty of losing, even ahead of this year’s 0-9 start.

The fifth-year linebacker has been part of the Green and White for 21 wins and 52 losses since 2016. Jenkins admitted it “definitely wears on you,” two days after former teammate Jamal Adams shared his personal experiences.

The All-Pro safety, who was traded to the Seahawks in July, told reporters he “fought depression” over the Jets’ losing ways during his three seasons in New York, adding, “It took a toll on my life outside of football.”

“It’s just something that’s a hard thing to deal with,” Jenkins said after practice on a Zoom call. “It’s hard on guys, but there’s a lot of pride on this team and it’ll make you stronger when things get turned around.”

Jenkins added that playing football is “something I still love with every fiber of my body,” but he acknowledged that losing “hits people different ways” and “you have to find the time to get away and get your spirits up.”

Head coach Adam Gase said he doesn’t envision a scenario in which rookie quarterback and fourth-round pick James Morgan will be active as the No. 2 QB, even with Sam Darnold (shoulder) still sidelined.

“I think we’re a ways off from that,” Gase said. “To me, that would be tough for me to put him in that position considering he hasn’t had preseason games, reps with those groups. That’s not something you want to do.”

Kicker Sam Ficken (groin) was a full participant in practice, meaning he likely will play Sunday against the Chargers for the first time since Oct. 18.

Special teams coach Brant Boyer said the penalty for having 12 men on the field while defending a field-goal attempt during the Week 9 loss to New England “can’t happen.”

“We had a mental error. A guy stayed in that hadn’t been in the whole game. And the guy that was supposed to be counting, gave the thumbs up. We miscounted,” Boyer said. “Bad ball, terrible.”
