On Thursday, September 8, 2022, Paramount+ will celebrate Star Trek Day! The annual event will occur at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California. The Star Trek Day festivities will be hosted by Star Trek: Lower Decks stars (and co-hosts of the podcast Star Trek: The Pod Directive) Tawny Newsome (Ensign Beckett Mariner) and Paul F. Tompkins (Counselor Migleemo). The event will be streamed live online at 12 PM PST/3 PM EST.

In addition to Newsome and Tompkins serving as hosts for the main event, the Star Trek Day red carpet event will be hosted by Jackie Cox (Rupaul’s Drag Race) and Mary Chieffo (Star Trek: Discovery). For Star Trek Day 2021, Chieffo appeared on the red carpet with some stylish rainbow sneakers, and Cox hosted an “Enterprise Bingo” event wearing a full Starfleet uniform, so you can count on this pair of hosts to start the festivities off with some unforgettable lewks. Cox will also be hosting the Star Trek Cosplay Runway, where fans attending the event will walk the runway in their best Trek cosplay.

2022’s Star Trek Day Line-Up

For the third year in a row, Star Trek Day will take place on September 8th to commemorate the anniversary of the airing of the first episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, “The Man Trap,” on September 8, 1966. On that day, Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry introduced audiences to IDIC philosophy and a world that championed diversity, inclusion, acceptance, and hope.

Join Paramount+ and this year’s co-hosts Newsome and Tompkins, as they have conversations with Star Trek: Picard’s Jeri Ryan and Michelle Hurd, Lower Decks‘ Noël Wells and Dawnn Lewis, Star Trek: Prodigy‘s Brett Gray and Kate Mulgrew, and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, and Babs Olusanmokun, and more. In addition to the Trek series spotlight panels, the event will include a special behind-the-scenes tour of the set for the upcoming fifth season of the GLAAD-winning Star Trek: Discovery hosted by Wilson Cruz, who plays Doctor Hugh Culber.

Additional programming will include a tribute to the late Nichelle Nichols, stand-up comedy by Brian Posehn (who plays a Kzinti crewmember on Lower Decks), a musical performance by Reggie Watts (The Late Show with James Corden), and more.

The event will be live-streamed at StarTrek.com/Day, through the Star Trek and Paramount+ YouTube pages, on Twitter, Facebook, and TikTok, and (in the United States only) through the Paramount+ Twitch page. In addition, certain portions of the live stream will be available for streaming on Paramount+ after September 8th.

The event will also be supplemented with Star Trek‘s “Augmented Reality Delta Portals,” set up in several cities worldwide from September 7th through September 8th. These in-person augmented reality experiences will be based on current Trek shows and feature fully 3D extraterrestrial planets.
