#Long-awaited Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Movie Gets Another Delay

Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time has received yet another delay. The movie was meant to begin screening in Japan on January 23, but has been postponed due to the spread of COVID-19 and the state of emergency declared by the Japanese government.

The Evangelion website and Twitter page’s announcement said that a new release date would be quickly announced on social media and the website once it had been decided on.

Aside from the movie’s screening, the sale of “Shiro SAGISU Music from “SHIN EVANGELION” has been postponed as well.

The new postponement marks the latest COVID-19-related delay to have hit the movie. In 2020, it was pushed from its June 27 release date, while the midnight screenings were called off just last week on January 9.

Evangelion: 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon A Time is the fourth and final entry in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy, a retelling of the 1995 Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The last movie, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, was released in 2012. A trailer released in December 2020 previewed the theme song “One Last Kiss” by Utada Hikaru, who also performed the theme songs of the other Rebuild of Evangelion movies.
