On Friday, the 32-year-old collaborated with the Fab Five from Netflix’s popular “Queer Eye” reboot to release new visuals for her “Soulmate” single.
Lizzo released “Soulmate” more than a year ago on the “Cuz I Love You” album, which earned the singer and musician three Grammy wins.
But now, the new animated clip shows Lizzo promoting the message she’s long advocated: loving the person who you are. In it, she walks down Self Love Lane to show her own journey of reaching that same point.
In the video, she encounters each member of the Netflix series, who help her reinforce her worth. For instance, style expert Tan France adds looks to her wardrobe, while grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness dances with her and gives her a stylish new hairdo.
In the middle of it all, food expert Antoni Porowski lets her play with corgi puppies.
Of course, the message isn’t just about Lizzo. From the outset of her rapid rise to fame, she’s sought to inspire this same message in all her fans. Most recently, she released a TikTok video in June telling her body-shamers that her ideal body type is the one she already has. But this new video with the Fab Five also gives an obvious nod to Pride, which is always celebrated in June, and also seems to spread messages of positivity to the LGBTQ community.
“True love ain’t something you can buy yourself,” she sings. “True love finally happens when [you’re] by yourself.”
