Amazin' But True Episode 7 Mets podcast
Robert Sabo

It feels so good to be back. It feels good for baseball to be back…at least for now. With spring training 2.0 underway at Citi Field, it’s time for the return of the “Amazin’ But True” podcast with me and former Met Nelson Figueroa.

Figgie never thought he would be so happy to hear my voice again, but after a few months away from the show, we had lots to catch up on. We open the podcast talking about the 60-game season we face ahead. Will it end up happening and will they get through it? We discuss the rule changes, including no spitting or chewing tobacco, the impact on the players and the impact on fans not being at games. What can MLB and teams do to get the fans more involved somehow at the stadium and how can they make the broadcasts more interactive? Figgie and I look at whether there will be an asterisk on the season and the Mets’ chances to win a title.

NY Post Mets beat writer Mike Puma then joins us from Citi Field. Puma talks about the bizarre atmosphere being there right now, watching from the press box with his binoculars. He talks about the delayed COVID-19 results from the weekend, Marcus Stroman’s tweet to him, Jed Lowrie’s comments Sunday and status moving forward, Dellin Betances looking ready and Yoenis Cespedes showing his power.

Figgie and I have some big guests planned ahead with new episodes coming out Mondays and Thursdays throughout spring training 2.0 and twice a week throughout the season. Follow us on Twitter @JakeBrownRadio & @FiggieNY to keep up with guests coming on the show.

Catch up on all episodes of “Amazin’ But True,” a New York Mets podcast, by subscribing to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. The next episode will be released Thursday afternoon with a special Mets guest.
