#Listen to Episode 36 of ‘Up In The Blue Seats’: Rangers’ Quick Exit feat. Nick Fotiu

August 5, 2020 | 4:12pm

The Rangers’ playoff run ended much quicker than they expected, getting swept in three games by the Hurricanes. To look back on the rough series and the Rangers’ season, we present to you a brand new episode of “Up In The Blue Seats” with Rangers great Ron Duguay.

Ron opens up the show reacting to the Rangers’ exit Tuesday night. He talks about the surprising result as he expected the Rangers to win the series in four games. Ron and I then welcome in The Post’s Mollie Walker to the show. Mollie discusses Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad’s comments after the game and how disappointed they were in their season coming to an end. Ron and Mollie talk about the young Rangers players getting their first taste of playoff experience and what it means for them moving forward. I then ask both Ron and Mollie if the lack of fans and long layover played a big role in the struggles from the young Rangers team. Mollie then gets into the future of Henrik Lundqvist and why this may be the end of the road for him with the Blueshirts.

New York Post Rangers beat writer Larry Brooks then drops by the show in his weekly spot. Brooksie talks about his feelings on the series and why the Hurricanes dominated. He explains that Igor Shesterkin had a minor undisclosed injury, which left him out of Game 1 and 2. Brooksie also talks coaching in the series, what this team needs in the offseason to improve and what comes next for Lundqvist.

Former Ranger and now friend of the program Nick Fotiu then joins Ron. Fotiu talks about why he got into coaching after his playing career and what he saw from the coaching staffs in the Rangers-Hurricanes series. He explains what went wrong with the Rangers in the series, why the Hurricanes won, Lundqvist’s next step and why Carolina can go on a deep playoff run. Fotiu also explains why the Rangers should have stuck with Lundqvist to start Game 3.

Ron Duguay is joined every Wednesday by special Rangers and hockey guests. The Season 1 finale of the show will be released next Wednesday.
