There’s lots to discuss on a brand new episode of the “Up In The Blue Seats” podcast with Rangers great Ron Duguay, including some breaking news during the show.

Ron opens up the show chatting with the New York Post’s Mollie Walker, who discusses the hub cities that are in play for the NHL playoffs and what Rangers are getting back on the ice to practice. I then jump in to read Artemi Panarin’s statement from Instagram. Ron and Mollie react to Panarin saying he will hold off from playing as he is concerned with NHL’s handling of escrow, and will wait until an agreement is in place.

Ron and Mollie then are joined by Meghan Chayka, a hockey analytics expert from Stathletes. She discusses how she got into analytics, her talks with her brother — Coyotes GM John Chayka, her desire to own a team one day, women working in sports and women’s hockey. She even drops a few stats on the Rangers’ potential playoff matchup against the Hurricanes.

The Post’s Rangers beat writer Larry Brooks then joins Doogs. Larry talks about the Hockey Hall of Fame class. He breaks down Kevin Lowe’s selection and whether he was deserving. Ron also surprises Larry, asking about the run-ins he had with John Tortorella and the relationship they had when he was the Rangers head coach. Brooksie’s response is a must listen.

Brooksie and Doogie then chat with former Ranger Darius Kasparaitis. The ex-defenseman talks about coming from Lithuania but playing for Russia in the Olympics. He also discusses the transition in his game from Russia to the NHL, fighting and being a physical player. Kasparaitis chats about the friendship he’s formed with Alex Ovechkin, and giving his stick and puck from his special Game 7 overtime series-winning goal from 2001 to Alex this week. He also looks back to memories from the 2005-2006 Rangers, Pittsburgh vs. New York, Jaromir Jagr, and what he sees in Igor Shesterkin and why he compares to Henrik Lundqvist. He also talks about whether he has any regrets, the best moment of his career and how his lifestyle has changed.
