“#Listen to Episode 25 of ‘Amazin’ But True’: Rojas, Brodie’s Clocks Ticking feat. Steve Trachsel”

I open the show with a rant over my frustrations with how Luis Rojas handled the bullpen, especially in the 10th inning. He had multiple options, including leaving in Edwin Diaz, using Justin Wilson to face Didi Gregorius instead of pitching to Jean Segura, amongst many other options. Instead, he went to Miguel Castro and left him in far too long. I vent frustrations over Rojas and Brodie Van Wagenen’s nonsensical trade to get Castro in exchange for their 2019 Minor League Pitcher of the Year. Rojas and Van Wagenen need to be gone this offseason when Steve Cohen takes over ownership. Figgie responds with why Rojas made a big mistake with Castro staying in and lays out what move should have been done in that situation. We look at the lack of a sense of urgency from Rojas with such little time to go in the season and every game being so important. Figgie and I then look at the Andres Gimenez-Amed Rosario situation and why Rosario could be on the outside looking in come this offseason. Can the Mets end up making the playoffs or is it a long shot? We wrap up the segment talking about the T-shirt Figgie’s cousin made and potentially making more of them for listeners.

We then catch up with former Mets pitcher, the winningest starting pitcher for the Mets in the 2000s, Steve Trachsel. He talks about his beer coming out called the “Human Rain Delay,” why he took so long to pitch and the experience pitching alongside Hall of Famers Pedro Martinez and Tom Glavine. Trachsel also discusses being coached by Rick Peterson, his 2006 Mets memories, watching that NLCS Game 7 from the bullpen, his most memorable game, toughest hitter to face and his experience at Mets fantasy camp.
