Pinstripe Pod Episode 24 Yankees podcast
N.Y. Post: Charles Wenzelberg

The Yankees are finally done playing the Rays…at least in the regular season. They finished up their 10-game slate against them on Wednesday with yet another loss, finishing 2-8 against their AL East foe. The Rays have had the Yankees’ number and it has shown on the field and in the standings. To look back at the series, we present to you a brand new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Yankees great Jeff Nelson.

I joined the guys to open up the show with our weekly installment of “In The Paper.” We start with the tragic passing of Mets legend Tom Seaver. We get into what he meant to the Mets franchise, New York sports and Major League Baseball. He made throwing a complete game look easy. After paying respects to “Tom Terrific,” the guys react to the Rays continuing to beat the Yankees. Are they concerned? Are the Rays just a superior team? They discuss guys getting hit and share their thoughts on the suspensions handed down to Aroldis Chapman, Kevin Cash and Aaron Boone. They backed what Cash had to say, standing up for his players. Nellie believes Chapman should have been suspended more than three games. The guys talk about how heated the rivalry has now become and all of this being a part of the game. Shearn goes off on a rant about it. We wrap up the segment with me trying to get a discount on the steak dinner bet if the Mets can beat the Yankees on Thursday. It didn’t work.

NY Post baseball columnist Ken Davidoff then seamlessly joins the show, revealing he’s not vegan as Nellie tries to get him in on the steak dinner. Davidoff talks about his bad Burger King experience on his trip to Atlanta last week. Safe to say Kenny won’t be making another trip to the BK anytime soon. The boys then get into baseball. Davidoff believed the Rays manager should have been suspended more games, while Nellie vehemently disagrees. They all agree that Chapman got off light by only getting three, where he could have got somewhere closer to five to eight games. They look at the standings and worry about the Yankees dropping closer towards that final playoff spot. Davidoff discusses the struggles from the bottom of the Yankees lineup and Gary Sanchez looking lost at the plate. They finish it up talking fast food, a need for an In-N-Out on the East Coast and other great fast food establishments.
