Pinstripe Pod Episode 18 Yankees podcast Clint Frazier
N.Y. Post: Charles Wenzelberg

After a rough weekend down in Tampa, the Yankees rebounded nicely in the Bronx with a two-game sweep of the Braves. To talk about everything going on with the Yankees, we present to you a brand spankin’ new episode of the “Pinstripe Pod” with Chris Shearn and Jeff Nelson.

We opened up the latest podcast with the “In The Paper” segment, where I read the biggest Yankees headlines going on and Shearn and Nellie respond. We start with positive vibes after the sweep of the Braves and what the guys thought of the the two wins. We then move onto the latest Aaron Judge injury as he deals with “lower-body tightness.” We laugh about Shearn’s “pelvic stiffness” group text and whether or not the guys are worried about yet another Judge injury. After Clint Frazier returned with a bang Wednesday night, should he be getting more playing time? We then get into the possibility of teams not playing the full 60-game schedule getting a chance to make the playoffs based on winning percentage and how bad that would look for Major League Baseball.

The guys wrap up the open talking about Masahiro Tanaka’s latest start, his low pitch count, all these days off and how it might shift the rotation and they look ahead to the four-game set with the Red Sox and their brutal pitching staff.

NY Post baseball insider Joel Sherman then presents “Sherman’s Hot Corner” on where the Yankees stand right now and how they can improve.

Former Yankees infielder Luis Sojo, who won four World Series with the Bronx Bombers, then joins the show. Sojo talks about how special it was joining Nellie and the Yankees in 1996, being a hero in Venezuela, winning five batting titles there and the difference being like an idol playing there and fighting for one of the final roster spots here in the big leagues. Nellie also went with Sojo to play in Venezuela and players used to be honored to be asked to travel to play in winter ball. He talks about his game-winning and World Series-winning hit in Game 5 against the Mets that broke my 9-year-old self’s heart and it being the biggest moment of his career. How many times did that ball bounce up the middle into center field? Sojo also talks about how weird yet incredible it was for the Yankees to bring him back in 2003 as an active player after playing in his first Old-Timers’ Day game a bit earlier in the season.
