#Arlo Parks announces My Soft Machine deluxe, shares official cover of Jai Paul’s “Jasmine”

The extended edition of her sophomore album is due out December 8 via Transgressive.

Arlo Parks has announced a deluxe edition of her May 2023 sophomore album, My Soft Machine. Along with news of the forthcoming two-disc release, Parks has shared a studio version of her cover of Jai Paul’s “Jasmine,” a rendition she debuted live in July on Sirius XM. The track comes with a Joel Barney-directed music video that follows Parks on a lonely Coney Island excursion.

“‘Jasmine’ has always moved me deeply — to me it’s this shadowy, timeless and incredibly profound love song,” Parks says in a press release. “I really wanted to draw out the yearning of the lyrics and pay homage to an artist who has had a seismic impact on me and on culture. Receiving Jai Paul’s blessing to create this cover with Dave Okumu was one of the highlights of my creative journey so far.”

Due out December 8 via Transgressive Records, My Soft Machine (Deluxe) will feature six added tracks (as well as the record’s original 12 songs): today’s “Jasmine” cover, a cover of Tirza’s “Holding On,” updated takes on the My Soft Machine cuts “I’m Sorry” and “Blade,” featuring Lous and the Yakuza and redveil, respectively, and acoustic versions of “Devotion” and “Pegasus” (also from the album).

Since releasing My Soft Machine, Parks has published her debut poetry collection, The Magic Border, and announced a 2024 North American tour. Listen to her recent conversation with David Renshaw on The FADER Interview.
