#Lindsey Graham praises Jill Biden as ‘outstanding person’ after DNC speech

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham heaped praise on former second lady Jill Biden after she delivered her speech at the Democratic National Convention Tuesday night.

“Tonight, Jill Biden did a very good job representing herself and Joe in the causes they believe in,” the South Carolina pol tweeted. “She’s an outstanding person who has led a consequential life.”

Graham has come to the defense of the Bidens’ character before. In May he vocally defended Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden against sexual assault allegations, as well.

Jill, a longtime teacher, delivered her speech Tuesday from Brandywine High School in Wilmington, Del., where she once worked as an English teacher.

She gave a personal endorsement of Joe, referencing their struggle with the 1972 car crash that killed her husband’s first wife and daughter and late Beau Biden’s battle with brain cancer.

But Graham, who faces a surprisingly tough race against Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison, also tweeted that he felt it was “painfully obvious” that the Democrats’ progressive wing is controlling the show.

“It’s painfully obvious The Squad with @AOC, @BernieSanders, and Elizabeth Warren are in control of the Democratic Party’s legislative agenda,” Graham wrote. “Joe Biden is merely along for the ride.”

It’s not clear that Jill Biden would have equally warm words for Graham.

She told CNN in February that she no longer considers Sen. Lindsey Graham a friend after Graham said he would seek investigations into her husband and stepson as head of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
