The social-media star, whose real name is Josh Ostrovsky, launched a manicure truck that allows patrons to stay safe from the coronavirus while getting their nails done.
The “socially distanced mani truck extravaganza” made its way through Williamsburg yesterday and though it was intended to be a one-time event, Brooklynites were so excited, the truck will be coming back and expanding to other cities.
Customers put their hands through holes in a plexiglass window. Nail technicians, dressed in masks and protective gear, will fix hands up and paint them either pink, blue or red, inspired by the colorways of Ostrovsky’s Babe canned-wine line.
“IT’S LIKE A GLORY HOLE FOR YOUR HANDS,” Ostrovsky posted. “NOBODY IN NEW YORK CITY HAS BEEN ABLE TO GET A MANICURE FOR MONTHS AND CUTICLES ARE LOOKING TRASHHH.”
Manicures from the truck, run by Babe founders Ostrovsky and brothers Tanner and David Oliver Cohen, are free.
Nail salons in New York City have been closed since March and can’t reopen until Phase 3, which is slated to happen on Monday, July 6.
Though no formal schedule for the truck has been announced, don’t expect it in Florida: “Get your f–king s–t together,” the internet personality wrote, referencing the steep rise in cases in the state.
The truck will also be expanding to pedicures. “I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHAT YOU PEOPLE’S FEET LOOK LIKE. YIKES,” Ostrovsky wrote.
