The Issue: Miranda Devine’s column on Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s commission to investigate the Capitol riot.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has done her best to use the Jan. 6 riot to vilify her political opponents in the worst way, at the same time pushing a radical agenda, even though her party barely won the White House and both houses of Congress (“Nasty Nancy’s on her last legs,” Miranda Devine, July 26).

As she does this, her net worth continues to climb, as she invests in corporations that she regulates.

Vengeful, power-hungry and greedy are words that can be used to describe Pelosi — all of this is at odds with claims that she is a “devout Catholic.”

As a Catholic, I’m in total agreement with Devine’s article about Pelosi, which nails it and mentions her “ostentatious piety.”

She calls herself a “devout Catholic,” as does President Biden. In reality, they are true frauds, as they talk the talk but do not walk the walk.

Both Biden and Pelosi support abortion. They both have no accountability for their actions, which are against key doctrines of the Catholic Church.

As the saying goes, “Actions have consequences,” but it seems that individuals like Biden and Pelosi get a free pass for their “secular” positions.

Devine’s column is very troublesome to people who care about our country, our constitution and fairness.

Pelosi’s commission is all about going after former President Donald Trump again. A Pelosi commission stacked with Trump-haters is supposed to be bipartisan? Really?

It seems that all the Democrats are focused on is Trump, instead of focusing on the serious issues that threaten our nation in so many ways.

Devine’s op-ed on Pelosi was the best I have read in years anywhere. It was spot-on and cogently described the “Catholic” speaker of the House.

Thank you, from all of us millions of pro-lifers across the nation.

Devine’s column on Pelosi was sensational. I agree with everything she said.

Pelosi is nasty, a hypocrite and a liar. She said multiple times that she prayed for Trump, and she still tried to impeach him two times. I think she’s got to go. She’s been there too long.

The Issue: Robert Barron’s column criticizing the morals of John Lennon’s song “Imagine.”

After evaluating the lyrics in “Imagine,” as Robert Barron so effectively does, I agree with the ultimate emptiness of John Lennon’s song (“Let’s Not ‘Imagine,’ ” PostOpinion, July 26).

A structureless world, based on our less-than-ideal human nature, would only enable the strongest to assume control.

Replacing morality, spirituality, nationalism and personal possessions with a belief in “brotherhood” is an excellent recipe for returning to our very early existence.

Lennon’s imagination is totally misdirected and downright dangerous.

Thank you, Barron, for your article. You put into words exactly my thoughts every time I hear that song. It’s a pipe dream that will never come true, and it’s dangerous.

Without God, we have no absolutes, there is no love for each other, so there can be no “brotherhood of man.” Barron summed it up perfectly.
