The Issue: The Biden administration’s call for social-media sites to restrict vaccine “misinformation.”

It is one thing to monitor and censor hate speech; it’s quite another to censor disagreements about political, social and medical issues of great importance to the public (“Outsourcing Censorship,” Jacob Sullum, PostOpinion, July 21).

On issues such as these, American society has always operated on the principle that sunlight is the best disinfectant. The Biden administration chooses instead a bullying kind of censorship, even in light of the scientific and medical mistakes it has promoted in the past.

It inadvertently supplies former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit with the state-action requirement that it might otherwise lack — but more important is a pivotal point in the history of the First Amendment, about which every American should be concerned.

Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that the White House is “in regular touch with social media platforms” to combat “misinformation.”

Any critical-thinking individual should have a problem with this. One unintended negative outcome could include who ends up getting to decide what constitutes “misinformation.”

If you’re OK with this, would you have approved this being done by the previous administration? Do we really want the government to influence what we can read, see and hear? That seems to be working so well in places like Cuba right now.

The Democrats called Trump a fascist. Are they looking in the mirror?

The Biden administration is attempting to control social media and what American citizens can read.

Wake up, America, before it’s too late.

We don’t need to guess if the Biden administration is aligned with Big Tech companies, as Psaki has spilled the beans.

Not that many people didn’t already know this, but this cements the case that fascism exists in the new radical-left government.

Social media will censor people regarding the vaccine. This is total madness.

When will Republican senators take a hard stand against this type of collusion? People need to open their eyes and see how devious the administration acts.

Vincent Conti

When the government teams up with the mainstream media and social media to censor viewpoints they don’t like, it is a threat to our democracy.

When a representative of the government not only acknowledges it but justifies it, then we are on our way to becoming a dictatorship.

Psaki stated that not just one social media organization should censor “misinformation,” but that all platforms should do it.

That is dishonest. In this case, “misinformation” is information the government simply doesn’t like.

Every single citizen of this country is guaranteed the freedom to express his or her viewpoint. Some government flack should not state that people should be censored because they don’t agree with the government line.

This is dangerous, and if this censorship does not stop, it will destroy our country.

As Miranda Devine points out, and Psaki admitted, the White House is going fascist (“Media’s Anti-Vax Smear,” July 19).

Under the guise of protecting our health, the Biden administration is deputizing Big Tech to censor free speech.

Disinformation about COVID must be censored. Psaki stated they were flagging the names of individuals and groups to Facebook that they want silenced.

I recall last year, The Post was censored when it ran an op-ed on the possibility of a lab leak in China. Last year’s “misinformation” often becomes today’s truth.

The collusion of the government and big business to deprive us of our rights is the definition of fascism.
