Custom woodworker Brian Calteaux invented the variation on the Hasbro classic — and his handmade “Little Tipsy Shot Tower” is played the same way: Each player takes a block from a 54-block tower, then places the block on the top of the tower, as the construct gets shakier and shakier.
Calteaux’s 27-inch-tall contraption includes what he describes as 54 natural, sanded 7.5-inch blocks, with 15 spots to put the jiggly hooch; 25 1-oz. cups with lids; and laminated rules and recipe card, according to the Minnesotan’s listing on Etsy, an online crafts market.
“Perfect for backyard get-togethers, graduations, Ladies Nights Out, camping, wedding parties, reunions, bachelor/bachelorette parties, tailgating, etc. It makes a great gift too!” Calteaux boasts in his listing.
“Add a few Jello shots and have fun!”
The price is $79 for the standard model; the models with extra holes, naturally, are more. Calteaux will add up to 15 extra holes at a buck a pop. And, of course, he even sells extra cups.
Folks are snapping up the gut-rot game faster than they can run to the liquor store. They haven’t been able to get enough since Calteaux unveiled his creation last summer, according to a blog post on Crafty Morning.
The backlog of orders now stretches six weeks. And almost two dozen Etsy customers had the contraption in their shopping carts at any given time Saturday.
