1988’s Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Waga Yuku wa Hoshi no Taikai and 1993’s Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Arata Naru Tatakai no Overture movies are heading to Japanese theaters in 2022 and 2023 respectively in 4K remastered formats with 5.1ch sound.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Waga Yuku wa Hoshi no Taikai will begin screening on December 30, while Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Arata Naru Tatakai no Overture will begin its run on January 13 next year. Both will screen for two weeks only. The screenings are meant to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Yoshiki Tanaka‘s space opera novel series, which began in 1982.

Waga Yuku wa Hoshi no Taikai was directed by Noboru Ishiguro with Takeshi Shudou as scriptwriter, while Arata Naru Tatakai no Overture was directed by Keizou Shimizu and written by Shimao Kawanaka. Waga Yuku wa Hoshi no Taikai is the first anime adaptation of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes series.
