Lazarus Main Theme Song & 2 Soundtrack Singles Now Available on Music Streaming Platforms

Milan Records has announced that the three lead singles from the upcoming Lazarus TV anime series are now available on music streaming platforms, which include Kamasi Washington’s main opening theme “Vortex.” The 13-episode anime will premiere in Japan and the U.S via Adult Swim’s Toonami block on April 6, 2025.

In addition to Washington’s opening theme, the two other tracks that can now be streamed come from British musicians and producers Bonobo and Floating Points. Each artist has contributed a full-length soundtrack to the show, with all three albums set for release on April 11, 2025.

Lazarus’ main opening theme song, “Vortex,” is described as an “ambitious multi-suite jazz number that shifts between choral-punctuated ensemble movements, virtuosic saxophone solos, and a searing electric guitar climax.” The song was hand-selected by series director Shinichiro Watanabe to be the main theme and can be heard in the newly released opening sequence for the show.

Meanwhile, producer and DJ Bonobo debuts the original vocal track “Dark Will Fall,” which is a “Western-meets-gospel slowburn led by acoustic guitar” and features soulful vocals by R&B gospel singer Jacob Lusk that “gradually intensifies into a choral-led vocal crescendo.”

Finally, producer and composer Floating Points contributes a 9-minute “masterpiece of pulsating electronic rhythms and synths” with his track “Dexion,” which includes “intricately layered textures and instrumentation culminating into a hypnotically upbeat groove.”

Adult Swim describes the main synopsis of Lazarus as:

The year is 2052 – an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity prevails across the globe. The reason for this: mankind has been freed from sickness and pain. Nobel Prize winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has developed a miracle cure-all drug with no apparent drawbacks called Hapuna. Hapuna soon becomes ubiquitous… and essential. However, soon after Hapuna is officially introduced, Dr. Skinner vanishes.

Three years later, the world has moved on. But Dr. Skinner has returned – this time, as a harbinger of doom. Skinner announces that Hapuna has a short half-life. Everyone who has taken it will die approximately three years later. Death is coming for this sinful world – and coming soon.

As a response to this threat, a special task force of 5 agents is gathered from across the world to save humanity from Skinner’s plan. This group is called “Lazarus.” Can they find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out?
