#Lakers’ Rajon Rondo rips adequate NBA bubble hotel room: ‘Motel 6’

It’s hard to imagine how Rajon Rondo developed a reputation for being moody.

Upon arrival to the NBA bubble in Orlando, veteran Lakers guard Rajon Rondo — who has made more than $100 million in his 14-year career — trashed his accommodations at the Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, comparing his hotel room to a Motel 6 in an Instagram post, featuring a middle finger emoji.

While millions of fans have been put out of work by the COVID-19 pandemic, Rondo, 34, was dismayed that his perfectly reasonable hotel room didn’t meet the luxury standard NBA players have grown accustomed to. The teams have been divided into three hotels, with the highest seeds put up at the Gran Destino Tower.

As part of the roster favored to win the NBA title in the 22-team restart of the season, Rondo and the Lakers (49-14) could spend as much as three months in their hotel, with Game 7 of the NBA Finals scheduled for Oct. 13. The Lakers resume their season against the Clippers on July 30.

In his second season with the Lakers, Rondo has averaged 7.1 points, 5.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds, marking his lowest production since his 2006-07 rookie campaign.
