Kyoto Animation's visually breathtaking Violet Evergarden the Movie anime film is about to get prettier as the official Twitter account for the franchised announced today that the film will be converted to Dolby Vision's HDR format and screened in seven Dolby Cinemas in Japan starting November 13 – the first anime to do so.

Dolby Vision's HDR is much higher than that of the regular HDR10 standard, with Dolby having brightness and color metadata on every frame, which is more metadata than regular HDR10. Dolby Vision has been in the news lately for being available on the new iPhone 12 range, both available to watch and record.

Violet Evergarden the Movie will be the first anime film converted to Dolby Vision's HDR color specifications and screened in Japanese cinemas, giving the colors of the already bright film more depth and more sharpness to the lines drawn by the talented team at Kyoto Animation. On the official website, Kyoto Animation compared the standard edition of the film and the new Dolby Vision HDR version. The bottom images are the new versions of the film.
