#Vandals smash NYPD car window as cops on 911 call

Vandals smashed the rear window of an NYPD patrol car while the officers were responding to a desperate call for help in the Bronx, police said Saturday.

“While our officers were addressing a domestic violence 911 call yesterday, the rear window of their car was intentionally smashed,” the NYPD’s 46th Precinct tweeted about Friday’s incident along Andrews Avenue South and West 179th Street in University Heights.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). You can also submit a tip via their website or on Twitter, @NYPDTips. All calls are kept confidential.

The incident is yet another shot at New York’s Finest.

On Saturday morning, a motorist in Brooklyn threw a caustic chemical at an NYPD officer during a traffic stop — and then tossed a lit Molotov cocktail at another cop who stopped him when he tried to escape, according to police.

“Expect more of this type of behavior,” warned Joseph Giacalone, a retired NYPD sergeant who teaches at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. “People who do this only hurt the community. When vehicles go out of service, it will slow down response times which puts lives in danger.” He said the “anti-cop rhetoric is reaching a fever pitch.”
