#Kristaps Porzingis was quarantined for forgetting to take coronavirus test

Kristaps Porzingis was forced to miss the Dallas Mavericks’ scrimmage Sunday against the Indiana Pacers because he forgot to take his coronavirus test on Saturday, forcing the former Knick into a one-day quarantine. Porzingis, 24, was expected to be able to return to team activities on Monday.

“He just forgot to get tested,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said, according to the Dallas Morning News. “When that happens, for safety reasons, he’s unable to join the team the following day. He’s getting retested today and I believe that he’ll able to rejoin us tomorrow.

“He was very contrite and really felt bad about letting the team down,” Carlisle continued. “Something like this is something that I think all of us can take as a cautionary tale. We’ve just got to remember that the details of the situation that we’re involved in are very, very important.”

Porzingis isn’t the first player at the NBA bubble to be forced into such a quarantine. Paul Millsap missed the Denver Nuggets’ scrimmage on Saturday for forgetting to take a test.

It’s a small price to pay compared to the 10-day quarantine Clippers guard Lou Williams is under. Williams, who had an excused absence from Orlando, was spotted at the Magic City strip club in Atlanta, and he later admitted to the NBA he stopped there to get food. As a result, Williams will miss the Clippers’ first two games of the restart.
