The official Twitter account for the Kingdom anime revealed a second promotional video for its upcoming third season. Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine will also be publishing a special interview with the Kingdom anime staff over the next four weeks, starting with this year’s 14th issue to be released on Thursday.
The season is set to resume airing on April 4th and will restart its airing from the first episode. The anime’s broadcast of episode 5 and later episodes of the third season was postponed to Spring 2021 due to the impact of COVID-19 in Japan.
As previously announced, the third season’s new production staff members include Kenichi Imaizumi (After School Dice Club), who is directing the anime at Studio Signpost. Noboru Takagi (Golden Kamuy) serves as the scriptwriter, and Hisashi Abe (Psycho-Pass: Sinners of the System) is designing the characters. Additionally, BiSH will perform the anime’s opening theme song “TOMORROW” and waterweed will perform the anime’s ending theme song “Deep inside.”
Previously revealed new cast members for the anime include Yuya Uchida (The God of High School) as Shun Shin Kun, Miou Tanaka (Burn The Witch) as Kan Mei, Atsuko Tanaka (Campione!) as Ka Rin, Daisuke Namikawa (Black Lagoon) as Go Hou Mei (Wu Feng Ming), Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Assassins Pride) as Kou Yoku (Xiang Yi), and Yūto Uemura (Bungo Stray Dogs) as Haku Rei (Bai Li).
The returning cast members include Masakazu Morita (Baccano!) as Shin (Xin), Jun Fukuyama (Assassination Classroom) as Ei Sei (Yin Zheng), Rie Kugimiya (Bleach) as Karyō Ten (He Liao Diao), Kentaro Ito (Golden Kamuy) as Huan Ji, Yoshimasa Hosoya (Attack on Titan) as Ōhon, Hirofumi Nojima (Bakuman) as Mōten, Shiro Saito (Tsuritama) as Biao Gong (Hyou Ko), Kenyuu Horiuchi (BEASTARS) as Wang Jian (Ōsen), Taiten Kusunoki (Baccano!) as Mōbu, and Akio Kato (Beelzebub) as Tō.
Crunchyroll streamed the first season as it aired in Japan and described it as:
Shin and Hyou are war-orphans in the kingdom of Qin. They dream of proving themselves on the battlefield until the day Hyou is captured by a minister. The boy manages to escape and return to his village, but he is badly injured. Shin then meets a mysterious youth who bears an eerie resemblance to Hyou—a boy who will one day become emperor!
