#Court records detail horrific child abuse, disfigurement

A North Las Vegas woman was charged with child abuse after officers found her two children permanently disfigured from being burned and beaten, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Cathalyn Davis, 27, was charged with two counts of child abuse resulting in substantial bodily harm after a warrant was issued for her arrest last week.

Police are still looking for Davis’ co-defendant and boyfriend, Jermaine Tatum.

Tatum allegedly beat Davis’ 2-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter with belts, phone cords and TV cables, and burned the children with a lighter and welding torch, according to the paper.

At least 74 burns, scars and wounds were found on the girl along with at least three dozen markings on the toddler, covering nearly their entire bodies.

The horrendous attacks left the children “permanently disfigured,” authorities say.

Court documents allege that the abuse began in Nevada in March and continued when the family moved to Missouri, where the case haunted investigators.

“(The official) stated the injuries on (the children) were the worst he has ever seen in 20 years, that he could not stop thinking about it later that night, and that it gave him ‘goose bumps,’ ” the report cited a Missouri officer as saying.

Davis told police she saw her boyfriend hit the children at times, but most of the abuse happened when she was at work.
