#’Killer mom’ Gigi Jordan may be retried for son’s murder

Millionaire “killer mom” Gigi Jordan may have to be retried now that a judge’s procedural technicality has voided her 2014 manslaughter trial, Manhattan prosecutors said.

During the trial, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon had briefly dismissed jurors and closed his courtroom to the press after prosecutor Matthew Bogdanos asked for a closed-court conference with the judge and defense lawyer Ron Kuby, a ruling said.

Jordan, on trial in the fatal drug-poisoning of her autistic eight-year-old son, Jude Mirra, had just complained about the trial online, and the prosecutor wanted to ask the judge to instruct jurors to avoid online posts about the case.

Solomon then closed the courtroom to the press despite Kuby’s objections that the closure violated his client’s right to a public trial.

The judge soon realized his error, and six hours later unsealed the minutes for the press.

Still, the right to a public trial had indeed been violated, U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Cave ruled Friday in ordering Jordan’s conviction vacated.

Jordan, currently serving an 18-year sentence, will be retried, Manhattan DA spokesman Danny Frost said.

“Our Office strenuously disagrees with the ruling,” he said.

“We will promptly appeal this decision and if it becomes necessary we will re-try Ms. Jordan for the premeditated killing of Jude Mirra, her 8-year-old son.”
