#Street gang founded fraudulent nonprofit to solicit grants

A vicious street gang responsible for murders and brutal assaults allegedly founded a fraudulent nonprofit to solicit grants and donations to fuel the members’ lifestyles, according to federal prosecutors.

Shanay Outlaw, aka Easy, with the help of other gang members, launched the charity D.A.E.M.P.I.R.E — Determined Adults Exceedingly Motivating Peers Into Responsible Entrepreneurs.

Outlaw and rapper Casanova, whose real name is Caswell Senior, are among 18 Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation gang members charged Tuesday with crimes ranging from murder and assault to cocaine trafficking and gun possession.

Outlaw allegedly managed the gang’s finances and updated senior members on the amount in the coffers, prosecutors wrote in a motion arguing that almost all the defendants should be held without bail. Outlaw was the only defendant for whom prosecutors recommended home confinement.

The nonprofit was principally run by Gorilla Stone street leader Christopher Erskine, who’s nicknamed Beagle.

“D.A.E.M.P.I.R.E. as described over wiretaps and recorded jail calls, was designed to take advantage of nonprofit grants to benefit gang members,” wrote Assistant US Attorney Shiva Logarajah.

Erskine outlines the purpose of the nonprofit in an intercepted phonecall to imprisoned gang leader and co-defendant Dwight Reid, aka Dick Wolf.

“Your wife, me, everybody else, we need to get paid the correct amount of bread and the only way we going to do that is through donations and grants,” he allegedly said.

“And then your wife, she don’t have to worry about working and none of that. You ain’t got to worry about sh– like that no more.”

It’s unclear whether the gang ever obtained any grants or donations.

Reid, who founded Gorilla Stone and continues to “maintain an “iron grip” over the organization from behind bars, is serving a 50-year-to-life sentence for a 2014 murder, prosecutors said.

The gang allegedly has hundreds of members across New York State — including in the prison system — and has 16 rules that must be abided by, court papers allege.

“As Rillas we must crush our enemies on sight,” states rule No. 2.

Another member, Robert Woods, aka Blakk Rob, allegedly slashed a rival from ear to chin mutilating his face. He was so proud of the wound, he allegedly sent a picture of the victim’s injury to a friend, according to the filing out of the Southern District of New York.
