Karol G has called out GQ Mexico after the publication of its latest issue, which features the Colombian reggaeton star on its cover. In a Thursday Instagram post that compared a seemingly unfiltered self-portrait to the cover short, she expressed gratitude for the coverage of her work, but claimed the “number of edits” the magazine made to the image before its publication felt “disrespectful.” In the post, she claims that even after she made her reservations regarding the photo clear, “they didn’t do anything about it.” The FADER has reached out to GQ for comment.
“My face does not look like this, my body does not look like this, and I feel very happy and comfortable with how I look naturally,” Karol G wrote in Spanish. “Beyond feeling [the edits are] disrespectful to me, [they are disrespectful] to the women who wake up every day desperately looking to feel comfortable with ourselves despite society’s stereotypes.”
