“Kakegurui Twin Releases Trailer and Visual, Will Premiere on August 4”

The Kakegurui Twin spin-off has received a trailer and key visual, as well as an August 4 Netflix release date. The trailer previews the ending song “Queen’s Bluff” by i☆Ris in addition to providing a taste of Mary Satome’s experiences as a first-year student.

The anime’s staff and cast were also revealed, with the former including Yuuichiro Hayashi (Kakegurui, Attack on Titan: The Final Season) as chief director, Kaori Makita (Twittering Birds Never Fly~The Clouds Gather) as director, Shigeru Murakoshi (I’m Quitting Heroing) as series composer, Manabu Nii (The Day I Became a God) as character designer and one of the chief animation directors, Makinobu Nomura (Kakegurui co-art director) as one of the art directors, Ayako Suenaga (Kakegurui) as color designer, Katou Shinnosuke (Jujutsu Kaisen assistant photography director) as photography director, and TECHNOBOYS PULCRAFT GREEN-FUND (Kakegurui) as music composer.

Meanwhile, the cast includes Minami Tanaka as Mary Saotome, Rina Honnizumi as Tsuzura Hanatemari, You Taichi as Yukimi Togakushi, Yuuko Kaida as Sachiko Juraku, Aoi Koga as Mikura Sado, Seiichirou Yamashita as Aoi Mibuomi, and Rie Takahashi as Sakura Miharutaki. The characters are all featured in the key visual.

MAPPA, which produced the anime adaptation of the main Kakegurui series, was previously announced as the animation production company.

The Kakegurui Twin manga began in 2015 and has 12 tankoubon volumes as of October 2021. Yen Press describes the story as:

As a first-year student of the renowned Hyakkaou Private Academy, Mary Saotome knows her future is set for a one-way cruise to the top…

That is, until an encounter with an old-classmate-turned-housepet throws the newbie princess into the world of gambling! Can a normal girl like Mary make friends and survive debtless through only wit and luck? Find out in this prequel to the mega-popular Kakegurui!

The Square Enix-published manga is drawn by Kei Saiki and written by the main series’ Homura Kawamoto. It is serialized in Monthly Gangan Joker and published under the Gangan Comics Joker label. 

The main Kakegurui manga series began in 2014. Two anime seasons aired in 2017 and 2019 respectively. The manga has also inspired a 2018 live-action television drama and a now-defunct mobile game.
