#Kaguya-sama Live-Action Film “Final” Hits Japanese Theaters August 20, 2021

 

 

The official website for the live-action film adaptation project based on Aka Akasaka’s romantic comedy manga Kaguya-sama: Love Is War has released a teaser visual and a 30-second teaser trailer for the upcoming second film, titled Kaguya-sama: Love Is War Final, to announce its theatrical release in Japan on August 20, 2021. The film’s official Twitter writes, “‘Final’ means that the battle between the two is about to end.”

The first film was released in Japan on September 6, 2019, and topped the weekend box office ranking with an impressive 315 million yen, beating Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering With You. It earned 2.24 billion yen from its domestic run to become the 24th top-grossing film of 2019.

 

Production of the second film was announced during the first film’s first terrestrial broadcasting in Japan on January 5, 2021. The first’s Hayato Kawai returns to the director’s chair and all of the main cast members, including Kanna Hashimoto (Kaguya Shinomiya) and Sho Hirano (Miyuki Shirogane), are confirmed to reprise their roles. Also, Hinatazaka46 member Yuka Kageyama newly joins as the first-year auditor of the Student Council, Miko Iino.
