#Kaede Hondo, Kana Ichinose Star in Da Capo Visual Novel’s “Full Remake”

The CIRCUS-developed romance visual novel Da Capo, which was first released in 2002 and inspired two anime seasons in the same decade, is getting a “full remake” titled Da Capo Re:tune that features a new voice cast, new character designs, and a new character.
The remake casts Kaede Hondo as Nemu Asakura, Chiharu as Sakura Yoshino, and Kana Ichinose as Kotori Shirakawa. Meanwhile, Hikaru Tono voices new heroine Fuki, a girl with a hooded cape who is not of the island where the story is set.
Their voices and designs are previewed in the game’s teaser trailer. Further details will be revealed at a later date.
The Da Capo series spawned from a scenario in 2001’s Archimedes no Wasuremono, a fan disc for the visual novel Suika. There have been multiple numbered mainline games and fan discs since, with a recent entry being 2023’s Da Capo 5. Da Capo 2 and Da Capo 3 have received anime adaptations.
The first game’s premise is described (via MangaGamer) as:
On the island of Hatsune, cherry blossoms remain in bloom all year round. While there are those who study these mysterious cherry blossoms, most people lead normal, everyday lives. Even though these cherry blossoms are forever blooming, their lives are still the same.
In the middle of such a normal world lies Kazami Academy. At this school there is a young boy who is far from ordinary, yet far from extraordinary. He possesses two mysterious powers: the power to produce Japanese sweets out of nowhere and the power to see other people’s dreams.
A school idol who loves Japanese sweets, a nagging, yet spoiled little sister, an absent minded upperclassman, a loud childhood friend who always appears in his dreams, and an energetic junior who is nicknamed “puppy dog,” all attend Kazami Academy with him.
As graduation approaches, they finally meet, and their heartwarming love story begins.
