“#Julie and The Phantoms Revival Petition Surpasses 100k Signatures”

The Change.org petition to bring back the fan-favorite Netflix show already boasts 100,000 signatures.

The petition to revive the Netflix series Julie and The Phantoms on Change.org currently boasts a raging 100,000 signatures, as fans are unwilling to let this one go. Followers of the Netflix musical dramedy were left broken-hearted after it was announced that the show will not be resumed for a second season last month. The news had also saddened the ones associated with the show, as Kenny Ortega, executive producer, choreographer, and director of Julie and The Phantoms announced the news on Instagram in December with a heavy heart.

We learned this week that Netflix will not be picking us up for another season… Although our hearts are saddened, we move on with such pride for what we accomplished as a team and the family we built while creating Julie.

The show, based on the Brazilian children’s series Julie e os Fantasmas, was canceled a little more than a year after its first season was released on Netflix. However, fans are willing to leave no stone unturned to resurrect the series. Rebecca den Boer started the petition on Change.org and encouraged fans to invite more and more signatures with a hashtag on Instagram. She wrote,

We want season 2 of Julie and the Phantoms… This show has brought so many people so much happiness and has inspired so many to follow their dreams. We all really want to see more of this amazing show, cast and crew. Make sure to use the hashtag #wewantseason2jatp on Instagram.

Julie and The Phantoms follows the story of Julie, a high school student who lost her passion for music after her mom died the year before. However, when the ghosts of three dreamy musicians from 1995 suddenly appear in her mom’s old music studio, Julie feels her own inner spirit begin to reawaken and she is subsequently inspired to start singing and writing songs again. As their friendship with Julie grows, the boys convince her to create a new band together: Julie and the Phantoms.

The cast of the show included a host of fresh talent as well, like Madison Reyes in the role of Julie, and Charlie Gillespie, Jeremy Shada, and Owen Patrick Joyner as the ‘Phantoms.’ It remains to be seen whether the petition manages to bring the fan-favorite Netflix musical back.
