#Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Anime Film Premieres December 24, Gets New Teaser Visual

The official website and Twitter account for the upcoming Jujutsu Kaisen film titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0, revealed a new teaser visual and the film’s December 24 premiere date. The film was announced after the 24th episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was first serialized in Jump GIGA in 2017 for four volumes as Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, with its protagonist Yuta Okkotsu, the powerful second year Jujutsu High student mentioned in the main series. The main JUJUTSU KAISEN series began in March 2018, and the prequel was published as a single volume manga in November 2018.

VIZ Media describes the story as:

Yuta Okkotsu is a nervous high school student who is suffering from a serious problem—his childhood friend Rika has turned into a Curse and won’t leave him alone. Since Rika is no ordinary Curse, his plight is noticed by Satoru Gojo, a teacher at Jujutsu High, a school where fledgling exorcists learn how to combat Curses. Gojo convinces Yuta to enroll, but can he learn enough in time to confront the Curse that haunts him?

Based on the manga by Gege Akutami, Jujutsu Kaisen premiered its first cour during the Fall 2020 anime season. The show’s staff includes Sunghoo Park (The God of High School) as director, Yui Umemoto (Granblue Fantasy: The Animation Season 2) as assistant director, Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan: The Final Season series composer) as series composer and script writer, and Tadashi Hiramatsu (Yuri!!! on Ice) as character designer.

Other staff include Teppei Itou as photography director, Chikako Kamata (Banana Fish) as color designer, Miki Kaneda as 3DCG director, and Hiroaki Tsutsumi (Dr. Stone) as music composer. MAPPA is in charge of animation production.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s first ending theme song, “LOST IN PARADISE,” the second single by international hip-hop and funk group ALI, won the award for Best Ending theme at the 7th Anime Trending Awards. Reaching 28th place on the Oricon music charts and peaking at 7th place on the Anime Trending Shuffle Charts, the song features the Japanese rapper AKLO.

Hardship, regret, shame: the negative feelings that humans feel become Curses that lurk in our everyday lives. The Curses run rampant throughout the world, capable of leading people to terrible misfortune and even death. What’s more, the Curses can only be exorcised by another Curse.

Itadori Yuji is a boy with tremendous physical strength, though he lives a completely ordinary high school life. One day, to save a friend who has been attacked by Curses, he eats the finger of the Double-Faced Specter, taking the Curse into his own soul. From then on, he shares one body with the Double-Faced Specter. Guided by the most powerful of sorcerers, Gojo Satoru, Itadori is admitted to the Tokyo Metropolitan Technical High School of Sorcery, an organization that fights the Curses… and thus begins the heroic tale of a boy who became a Curse to exorcise a Curse, a life from which he could never turn back.
