#Jim Harbaugh goes after Ryan Day in heated Big Ten phone call

The college football season hasn’t even started yet, and University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is already getting under Ohio State head coach Ryan Day’s skin.

During the weekly Big Ten coaches conference call, Harbaugh interrupted Day mid-answer, and accused him of violating rules by having on-field instructions and drills take place already while it is not yet permitted in the NCAA, according to a post from Bucknuts.

“How bout I worry about my team and you worry about yours?” Day reportedly snapped back at Harbaugh.

After the call on Monday, Day apparently got so fired up that he told his team that the Wolverines had better hope for a mercy rule because the Buckeyes are “going to hang 100 (points) on them.”

They have not been that far off recently.

Ohio State won 56-27 last season in Day’s first season as coach, a season after they rolled Michigan 62-39 under Urban Meyer. Michigan has lost eight straight matchups against OSU since 2011, which includes five straight losses by Harbaugh in his otherwise impressive run in Ann Arbor.

“I appreciate the question, but I’d rather not answer that right now,” Harbaugh replied after he was asked about the reportedly heated exchange.

For the first time since 1942, Michigan and Ohio State won’t be matching up for the final game in the regular season. With the announcement of the altered Big Ten conference schedule amid the coronavirus pandemic, the rivals play in Columbus Oct. 24, four weeks before the end of the season.
