#Jerry Falwell Jr. allegedly got drunk and fell down stairs amid scandal

Jerry Falwell Jr. allegedly got drunk and injured himself inside his home about a week after explosive reports of an affair involving him, his wife and a pool boy surfaced, according to records and 911 audio reported on Thursday.

The evangelical leader’s wife, Becki Falwell, called 911 around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 31 to say her husband had fallen inside their Bedford County, Virginia house and there was “a lot of blood right now,” HuffPost reported.

The dispatcher asked whether her husband had been drinking alcohol and Becki responded “yes,” according to audio of the call obtained by the website.

She described being at church around 11 p.m. and receiving a call from Jerry, who said he was bleeding after a fall down the stairs. When she got home, the doors were locked so she used a chair to break through the back door, according to the report.

When Becki was asked if her husband had been drinking “heavily,” she said, “I’m not going to answer that question.”

The dispatcher explained that alcohol thins the blood and could be the cause for the heavy bleeding — but Becki was adamant: “The more I tell you the name, the more you’re going to understand why we’re not talking to you right now,” HuffPost reported.

The ultra-conservative Liberty University in Virginia — where Jerry was president until he resigned amid the sex scandal — stringently forbids alcohol use by students.

“He won’t let her take him to the hospital as he is stubborn. Caller was not forthcoming,” noted dispatch logs, which were obtained by HuffPost via a public records request.

When medics and emergency responders got to the house they found Jerry with several cuts , including above both eyes, under his left eye and across the bridge of his nose, the website reported.

He had apparently hit his head on a trash can and there was “blood in the area he indicated” as well as “empty alcohol containers,” the first responders noted.

Jerry — the son of late televangelist and modern religious-right co-founder Jerry Falwell Sr. — had “slurred and slowed speach (sic) and would repeat things already asked.”

Later that day, Liberty’s board of trustees announced an independent investigation into the conduct of its disgraced former president.
