De Blasio called J-Lo the “pride of The Bronx” and said A-Rod was “famous for his achievements on the baseball diamond.”
But Hizzoner noted that the former Yankees slugger also had the wisdom to get engaged to the famed singer and actress once known as “Jenny from the Block.”
De Blasio revealed the surprise celebrity speakers, who are reportedly still in the hunt to purchase the Mets, just hours before the graduation ceremony, which is set to begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The announcement came as de Blasio also said he’d struck an $88.1 billion budget deal with the City Council.
