#Jared Kushner confirms meeting with Kanye West, says they’re old friends

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner on Thursday confirmed that he recently met with presidential hopeful Kanye West, but said they avoided talk of his campaign.

The pair got together in Telluride, Colo., last weekend, Kushner said, adding that he’s been friends with the billionaire rapper for a decade.

“Unlike others, I’m able to keep friendships across the aisle,” he told Fox News.

The meeting between West and Kushner, an adviser to President Trump and his son-in-law was first reported by The New York Times earlier this week.

It came amid controversy over West’s third-party White House bid, which some view as an effort to siphon votes from Democrat Joe Biden.

Asked about the claims, Kushner said, “We didn’t discuss his campaign and what he’s up to.”

“I read things in the press,” he added, “but I have not discussed that directly with him.”

Earlier on Thursday, Kushner told reporters at the White House that he and the rap superstar “had a general discussion, more about policy.”

They also chatted about a book on empowering black Americans that the mogul had sent to Kushner.

“Kanye sent me a book about a month ago called ‘PowerNomics‘… I read the book. It was absolutely phenomenal, it actually incorporated a lot of the things that President Trump has been doing,” Kushner told “Special Report” host Bret Baier.

He said he distributed copies of the tome in the White House “because I think there’s a lot of inspiration we can get from it for President Trump’s second-term agenda.”

Since announcing his late run as an independent “Birthday Party” candidate, West has filed petitions to get on the November ballots for president in several states. So far, he’s managed Colorado, Oklahoma and Vermont.
