#Jamie Stelter, co-anchor acted like ‘high school bullies’: report

NY1’s Jamie Stelter reportedly made disparaging remarks about coworkers along with co-host Annika Pergament during Stelter’s rise in stature inside the volatile newsroom, a new report claims.

Stelter, who’s married to CNN host Brian Stelter, was portrayed by anonymous staffers as being a person some co-workers learned to avoid, according to a behind-the-scenes look at the city-centric network published in New York Magazine.

The lengthy report focuses on Pat Kiernan and an age and gender discrimination lawsuit by five women against NY1’s parent company. But it outlines how Stelter and Pergament were lined up to become Kiernan’s co-hosts on “Mornings on 1.”

Stelter, previously a traffic reporter, was a rising star who had netted a profile in the New York Times called “Stuck in Traffic? A Star is Born,” the report said. But she and Pergament emerged in their new roles they started acting like “high school bullies,” an anonymous staffer said, according to the magazine.

Stelter was accused of making “snide remarks,” the report said, when traffic reporter Alyse Zwick saw her profile grow over social media pictures from her previous roles as a dancer for the New York Jets and a beauty pageant winner.

Zwick was later told by network brass not to post photos from her previous roles, the report claims, although it does not directly say she was given that directive at any staffer’s request.

Former and current workers at the station said Stelter, Pergament and Kiernan marginalized Stacy Ann Gooden by making comments and giving her only limited time to speak in meetings, resulting in Gooden filing a human resources complaint and later resigning, according to New York.

Stelter and Pergament declined to comment to the publication.

Stelter married husband Brian, host of CNN’s “Reliable Sources” in 2014. The CNN media analyst recently faced scrutiny when conservative pundits accused him of going too easy on White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki during an interview.
