A group of animal rescuers in the western city of Solapur have successfully rehabilitated the stray dog that they found stuck on the pavement. The pitiful pup was covered in tar, dirt and garbage debris from the street.
The rescue organization, Animal Rahat, documented Champi’s transformation, which took place over several weeks during his recovery.
Removing the tar from the badly-burned dog took volunteers four days, according to SWNS, using vegetable and coconut oil to melt the hardened adhesive from the dog’s mangled skin.
The video shows Champi now, evidently healthy and full of gratitude toward his saviors.
Animal Rahat works as first-responders, medics and rehabilitators throughout the Indian state of Maharashtra, with an emphasis on neglected strays and working animals, including camels, donkeys and steer. Animal lovers can help the group continue its work by donating on its website.
