Trevor Lawrence, no matter what.

In case there was any question left, that’s the indication Jaguars coach Urban Meyer has given after not attending Zach Wilson’s pro day Friday at BYU. The Jaguars, who own the No. 1 pick, did send offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, according to Sports Illustrated, but not Meyer, who previously spoke of the importance of seeing a quarterback up close after being at Lawrence’s pro day at Clemson.

“I do like to get very close to a quarterback and hear,” Meyer told Jaguars.com. “You say, ‘Hear what?’ I want to hear that ball leave his hand. I want to hear that ball go by my head. I do the same thing at practice. And I do want him to know we’re right there. You’ll see me do that with our kickers, too. I’m going to get real close to them. Life’s about how you can respond to pressure.”

Even without Meyer, Wilson still had plenty of company and pressure at Friday’s pro day as he looked to show he could be the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft. The Jets, who own that pick, reportedly sent GM Joe Douglas, head coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur – filling the three-person quota due to the pandemic – to get eyes on Wilson.

Other notable teams who sent key decision makers to Provo, Utah, according to Sports Illustrated: Falcons (No. 4 pick) GM Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith; Lions (No. 7) GM Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell; Panthers (No. 8) GM Scott Fitterer; and Broncos (No. 9) GM George Paton.
