“#Jacob deGrom scratched from Mets start with ‘tightness’”
This is the last thing the Mets need.
Ace Jacob deGrom has been scratched from Tuesday night’s start against the Cardinals with what the team says is “right side tightness.” Miguel Castro will start instead.
Mets manager Luis Rojas said deGrom let the staff know earlier Tuesday he was feeling tightness.
“He’s getting further tests right now and we’re waiting to see some results,” Rojas said of deGrom.
DeGrom, 32, has looked better than ever in his first five starts of the 2021 season, during which he has recorded a 0.51 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 35 innings, though he has just a 2-2 record to show for it.
The two-time Cy Young winner last pitched last Wednesday against the Red Sox.
