#Sophie Turner Turns 25: Where Else to Watch the ‘Game of Thrones’ Star

It’s been one helluva quarter-century for Sophie Turner. The English actress, best known for playing Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2019, turns 25 on February 21, and we’re marking the occasion by celebrating her other small- and big-screen roles.

The performances below are all “stark” departures from her Emmy-nominated turn as Thrones’ Queen of the North, as well. as her upcoming animated HBO Max comedy, The Prince. (She’ll voice Prince Charlotte in creator Gary Janetti’s irreverent take on the life of England’s young Prince George).

While we wait for that series, here’s a journey through Turner’s filmography so far, including her screen appearances with her husband, Joe Jonas.

Another Me (2013)

Turner pulled double duty for this creepy feature film, playing both a teenager and the doppelgänger who’s stalking her. “The fear of the unknown plays out a lot in this movie, and that’s what makes it so spooky,” the actress explained in a behind-the-scenes featurette.

The Thirteenth Tale (2013)

It’s not the thirteenth title on Turner’s list of credits — it’s actually just the third — but Turner costarred with Vanessa Redgrave and Olivia Colman in this BBC Two movie. As Redgrave’s novelist character narrates the story, we see Turner as a young girl encountering horrific events on a cursed country estate.

Time Freak (2013)

In this feature-length adaptation of an Oscar-nominated short film, Sex Education’s Asa Butterfield plays a wunderkind physicist who makes the questionable decision to build a time machine to restart his relationship with his girlfriend, played by Turner. Think Palm Springs but with less alcohol and more teen angst.

Barely Lethal (2015)

This action comedy didn’t get glowing reviews, but at least Turner got to share the screen with Hailee Steinfeld, Jessica Alba, and Samuel L. Jackson. In the film, Turner plays Agent 84 a.k.a. “Heather,” a young secret operative and a foil to Steinfeld’s Agent 83.

Josie (2018)

Turner got lead billing again in this feature film thriller, playing a high school student who develops a troubling relationship with a much older recluse. Fun fact: Another famous TV redhead was once attached to the role of Josie: The Queen’s Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy.

X-Men Apocalypse (2016) & Dark Phoenix (2019)

Turner went from supporting player in Apocalypse to title character in Dark Phoenix — the final installment in the X-Men film series — playing the telepathic and telekinetic Jean Grey as she struggles to understand her past, control her powers…and not kill her superhero buddies.

Survive (2020)

One of the more ambitious entries from the short-lived short-form streamer Quibi, Survive starred Turner and 24: Legacy’s Corey Hawkins as the only two survivors of a plane crash. (Between this show and Lost, you’d think an airplane lavatory is one of the safer places to be during an aviation disaster!)

Home Movie: The Princess Bride (2020)

To keep busy during their quarantine months, Turner and Jonas joined other A-listers in this Quibi fan-made recreation of the 1987 film The Princess Bride. The couple gender-swapped the parts originally played by Cary Elwes and Robin Wright: Turner donned a mask and dropped her voice to play the dashing Westley, while Jonas wore a dress and a wig to embody Buttercup.

Jonas Brothers & Bastille music videos (2014–2020)

Turner costarred with sisters-in-law Danielle Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in two of the Jonas Brothers’ music videos — 2019’s “Sucker” and 2020’s “What a Man Gotta Do” — but she had a larger part in the 2014 video for Bastille’s Oblivion, lip-syncing the song in front of a crowd at a demolition derby.
