The new horror series brings back the haunting story that we know as The Grudge. The iconic movie horror franchise was inspired by the tales of Ju-On, so if you enjoyed the scares from the movie, you’ll appreciate the series.

Are the Ju-On: Origins stories real?

According to The Cinemaholic, the legend of Kayako is real. She was, supposedly, a neglected child growing up and her situation didn’t exactly improve once older. Her husband brutally murdered Kayako and left her body to die in the attack, then drowned their son, Toshio.

If you have watched The Grudge, you know the story. Kayako’s croak, the son in the bathtub, and the angry footsteps of the husband haunt the house and everyone who walks inside.

It’s possible this tragedy did happen, and the rest (about the spirits haunting the home today) is all made up. In the end, it does make for good TV and movies!
