#Suge Knight Says He Covered Up ‘The Truth’ In Snoop Dogg Murder Trial

Suge Knight is back with more stories about the inner workings of the West Coast Hip Hop scene that he helped cultivate in the ’90s — this time, he’s made a bold claim about his involvement in the Snoop Dogg murder case.

The second episode of Collect Call With Suge Knight aired on Thursday (November 9) via Dave Mays’ Breakbeat Media, and it hears the former Death Row Records boss discussing how he allegedly helped the “Gin & Juice” hitmaker avoid a life sentence in prison.

“If it weren’t for me, [Snoop would] still be in prison doing life,” he said before discussing the incident that lead to the infamous trial.

Snoop Dogg and his former bodyguard, Malik, were arrested on first and second-degree murder charges in connection to the death of Philip “Little Smooth” Woldemariam in Los Angeles in 1993.

“The lawyer said: ‘Well, the bodyguard has a 9mm, so we can’t say he protected Snoop and shot the guy; Snoop had a .380,’” Suge recalled. “I said: ‘We’ll be fucked if the bodyguard had a .380 and Snoop had a 9mm., and he got shot with a .380, right? He got shot with a 9mm.”

He continued: “But since Snoop had the .380 and the bodyguard had a 9mm, and he got shot with a .380, all the bodyguard gotta say is he was using .380 bulets in his 9mm.”

The defendants were ultimately acquitted on all charges in the death of the rival gang member due to self-defense claims and negligence on the Los Angeles Police Department’s part.

Furthermore, Knight claimed to have spent $6million to help cover up loose ends. This involved paying off someone from Snoop’s crew who was blackmailing the rapper, going so far as to meet with a private investigator and telling him “the muthafuckin’ truth” on record. But according to Knight, once he stepped in, this person “destroyed” the alleged tape.

Two years ago, Malik went into acute detail about the trial and the events surrounding it. In early 2021, he sat down with Cam Capone News for an interview to discuss the murder charges that he and Snoop managed to dodge.

After a physical altercation with Woldermariam, he recalled the gang member allegedly hopping out of a bush and reaching for a gun that he felt would’ve been shot at him and his employer.

“When I saw him start to reach, that’s when I took my gun and I fired,” he said. “There was like a little incline. My hope was, I wanted to hit him in the lower part of his body, so as I’m aiming, he’s turning and as I’m aiming here, I fire […] When he was turning, he got hit in the hip and in the shoulder blade.

“Unfortunately, the one that went through his hip, went through him and his shoulder. He takes off and he runs. We find out that when he ran, he dropped about 50 yards or 75 yards away, he dropped right there and that’s unfortunately when he died.”

Lee went on to explain the victim’s friends took the gun, which is why the police couldn’t find it when they arrived on the scene later.
