#iPhone 13 certification leak suggests it’ll get beefier batteries

Better battery life on the iPhone? That’s always a reason to celebrate, and looks like we’re gonna see improvement in that department this year.

A leaker who goes by the username of @L0vetodream on Twitter, posted a photo from Weibo, indicating that the upcoming iPhone 13 series is getting a battery bump as compared to its iPhone 12 counterparts. The screenshot in the tweet below is from China’s TENNA certification site.

Here’s what’s the comparison looks like:

  • iPhone 12/12 Pro v iPhone 13/13 Pro: 2,815 mAh vs 3,095 mAh
  • iPhone 12 Pro Max v iPhone 13 Pro Max: 3,687 mAh vs 4,352 mAh
  • iPhone 12 mini v iPhone 13 mini: 2,227 mAh vs 2,406 mAh

Out of all four models, the Pro Max variant is seemingly getting a major boost of 665 mAh (why not 666, Tim?). All these specs indicate better battery life, and it’s generally safe to assume a more efficient processor and software updates will support this in the upcoming models.

But we have to keep in mind that last year there were rumors of the iPhone screen supporting a 120Hz refresh rate, which didn’t happen. While we didn’t get that super desirable feature in the iPhone 12, there’s a chance we might see it in the upcoming release later this year.

That feature might hog your battery a bit more than the standard 60Hz refresh rate, so Apple might be including this extra juice to counter the drain.

We’re at least a few months away from Apple’s marquee event, so hopefully more leaks along the way will solidify this rumor.
