#New Shining Force Mobile Game Eyes Worldwide Launch in 2022

A new Shining Force game is in the works, and this one is heading to mobile devices around the world. Hive—which is the Japanese subsidiary of Korean company Vespa—has secured the rights to develop and distribute a game based on SEGA’s long-running series of strategy-RPGs, and the saga will continue on mobile as Shining Force: Heroes of Light and Darkness (Shining Force: Hikari to Yami no Eiyuu). 

At the time of this writing, the free-to-play tactical game—which will feature optional item-based microtransactions—is eyeing a global launch in the first half of 2022. The license includes rights for Japan, South Korea, and other Asian territories along with North America and Europe, so stay tuned for further details on specific regions as they’re announced.

Beyond that, a beta test is planned at some point.
