A new website and Twitter account launched to announce that Kuontamu and Hana Amano’s Yūsha, Yamemasu: Tsugi no Shokuba wa Maōjō (I’m Quitting Heroing: Next Gig Is at the Demon Queen’s Castle) fantasy light novel series is getting a TV anime adaptation to premiere in April 2022. A promotional video and key visual were also revealed.
The anime’s staff includes Yuu Nobuta (High School Fleet, The Faraway Paladin) as chief director, Hisashi Ishii (Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear) as director, Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombie Land Saga) as series script supervisor, and Yuki Nakano (A Destructive God Sits Next to Me, Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear) as character designer. The animation production will be from EMT Squared.
The anime’s cast includes Kensho Ono as Leo Demonheart, Kaede Hondo as Echidna, Shizuka Itou as Steiner, Hitomi Ohwada as Lily, Yumi Uchiyama as Mernes, and Tetsu Inada as Edvard.
The Yūsha, Yamemasu light novel launched in the Kakuyomu story website in January 2017. Kadokawa publishes the novels in print with illustrations by Amano. The first volume released in December 2017 and the fourth volume shipped in August 2020. A manga adaptation of the novels by Nori Kazato launched in Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up web manga site in May 2018. The manga’s fifth volume released on May 10.
The story follows Leo, a hero who once saved the world from a demon lord’s army. However, he’s quickly shunned afterward and left jobless, so he decides to use his skills and knowledge to help the demon lord’s army he once fought.
